Abide - So That They May Have Joy
Speaker: Lee Cook
After Jesus shares the Last Supper with His disciples, He gives them His final instructions on how to live life after He leaves them. Understandably, they are worried and confused about His insistence that He must leave them. How can it be God's will for Jesus to die? How will they carry on His Kingdom work without Him? How will they face a cold and violent world?
The Greek word translated "abide" occurs 33 times in the Gospel of John. The word describes a deep, intimate connection. It describes how the Holy Spirit descends upon Jesus at his baptism. It also describes the relationship the Jesus wants with His followers. Jesus says that if we abide in Him and He abides in us, we'll bear much fruit (John 14:5) In this new sermon series, Abide, we'll explore John 14-17 and discover the joy of learning to abide in Jesus.
