I’m sure you’ve noticed: Christmas is coming early this year. The day after Halloween we started to see holiday displays all over town. In every business I visited last week they were playing Christmas music.
Early celebrations used to annoy some people. This year feels different. This year, more than ever, we need “the good news of great joy” proclaimed by the angel in Bethlehem.
So I’m officially kicking off our holiday celebrations with these words from psalm 149:
Sing to the Lord a new song,
His praise in the assembly of the saints…
Let them praise his name with dancing,
and make music to him with tambourine and harp.
For the Lord takes delight in his people;
He crowns the humble with salvation.
